A year of firsts (and one 3rd!)

2018, you little ripper. It was a mighty big year for our clients, and a mighty big year for us.

For the work we’ve done along the way, I have our brilliant clients to thank. So let’s begin with a virtual high-five for their unwavering support, enthusiasm and trust.

To the team of thinkers and makers who continually put the C in LVC, thank you for all you do.

Now to the juicy stuff – the firsts, the lessons, the ideas we loved.

When you’re onto a winner, double down.

We kicked the year off with the exciting news that ‘Claw’, a pre-roll video we made for SocietyOne, was performing swimmingly. In a first for us, we had the spot re-cut and re-launched it for TV screens in January. Check it out here.

The pre-roll was also named a finalist in the Video Innovation category of Google’s Premier Partner Awards 2018. That’s a first for us.

Big brand thinking is just as vital for small business.

Creating a brand identity for a new business is some of the most rewarding work we do. This year we worked with a few first-timers, including new local gin distillery @95 (watch this space) and Strata Community Energy (more on that in a minute).

Another brand-building highlight was working alongside the AirSpace team (formerly AirYoga) to reposition their existing brand, with a new website to help new customers discover their offering and book online.

The internet can make the world awesome again.

There’s social media marketing, then there’s marketing a new social network. A first for us this year was developing a launch strategy and comms plan for StreetHubs, a platform that aims to make knowing your neighbours cool again. Count us in!

You can’t keep accountants out of tattoo parlours.

It’s probably safe to say building a tattoo parlour in an accounting conference was a first for everyone involved – but for the legends at AccountKit, it paid off big time at Xerocon.

We were overjoyed (but not surprised) to see AccountKit named Industry Specific App Partner of the year (APAC) at the Xerocon awards in September. Good job, team.

You can’t stop the future.

Strata Community Energy is a procurement consultancy that helps Owners Corporations bring the cost-saving (and planet saving) power of renewables to strata buildings. We pitched in with a brand identity, launch collateral and website to help them grow.

Yep, content is still king.

And it’s not just about popping off a few tweets. More and more, clients are asking us to help them cut through the cluttered content space and genuinely reach potential customers. We produced this SCE informational brochure, some quality blog posts for AccountKit (like this one, this one and this one). We also shot and wrote case studies like this one for Business Continuum.

We even made content to celebrate our own milestones.

Amongst all the exciting firsts, this was the year LVC turned three, which made us feel like…

Thanks to the always excellent Mel Baxter (aka Moonshine Madness) for our 3rd birthday illustration.

Thank you, also, to design superstar Aimee Carruthers for our rather posh 2018 Little Village Creative Chrissie card.

How hard can planning a wedding be? Very. Very, very.

No 2018 wrap-up list would be complete without mention of my most demanding project, and perhaps the ultimate of firsts: getting married. Thanks to all for your kind words, patient advice and support through the busy bits.

What’s coming up for 2019?

LVC will be right back after some well-earned recuperation and Christmas cheer with new projects for the new year: re-brandings, marketing strategies, integrated campaigns, websites, event activations and more.

Have a wonderful break and here’s to many more firsts in 2019.

Time for us to vamoose,

Carolyn and the LVC team x
