StreetHubs x Little Village Creative: Launching a new social media platform
StreetHubs are private social networks for neighbours - there’s a StreetHub on every street in Australia where neighbours can get to know each other. Unlike most social media platforms that allow almost anyone with a common interest to join regardless of location, only residents on a street can access their Hub - and that’s what makes this app unique.
"It used to be cool to knock on neighbours' doors, now it’s awkward.” says founder, Mike Banks. “Those who have a strong street community love it, and like to tell everyone about it. But it rarely happens. Most neighbours are strangers. At StreetHubs, the dream is to help neighbours communicate to solve small problems, together.”
Mike’s ambition is impressive. He’s not just creating a few networks here and there; his aim is to be live on every street in existence. He needed a marketing strategy to match this ambition and turned to Little Village Creative: “LVC draws on a deep well of talent to deliver great outcomes. The kind of talent that large agencies grow, but can never keep.”
LVC Director Carolyn Stebbing adds: “It’s always exciting to work with a new business that is delivering something truly unique. Working directly with Mike as founder to launch StreetHubs from the ground up has been a fantastic experience for us, and we can’t wait to see StreetHubs come to life.”
In partnership with LVC, StreetHubs has created a consumer positioning strategy, a launch and growth communications strategy and a creative treatment utilising traditional channels like direct mail (DM) to drive traffic online. Mike adds: “It seems counter-intuitive, but online or digital channels have become less effective than traditional channels like DM and TV as new businesses crowd the search space, raising prices for all. The trick is to apply digital best practice when tracking traditional channels to better understand where the money goes.”
StreetHubs launches this month.
