2022 wrapped: A year of growth, milestones & Shaq
2022 is almost over already… how did that happen?! It’s been a whirlwind year of big things for our clients, and for us too.
We’ve been incredibly fortunate to work with some of the best in the biz, so let’s start with a huge thank you to our brilliant clients and our ace team of Little Villagers. We couldn’t have done it without you 👏👏👏
Now for a snapshot of the year that was for LVC.
Getting back to ‘real life’ for real this time
Emerging out of lockdown was challenging for everyone – far more so than many of us expected. 2022's priority for LVC was about supporting our team as we grew and transitioned back into working together in the office. This year was all about sustainable growth – the way forward!
On that note, we created two new permanent roles this year, filled by Ashleigh Masters who joined us as Campaign Manager in March, and Gale Schupack who came on board as Client Partner in July! Here's a bit more info on Ashleigh and Gale too.
We also signed on a bunch of fabulous new Little Villagers – designers, art directors, strategists and more.
Growing older, and wiser
Our 7th birthday was in June! To mark the occasion, we asked some of our Little Villagers to relive their fondest memories of childhood birthdays past, and imagine what their dream 7th birthday might look like today. Check it out here.
We also managed to squeeze in a celebratory lunch with our Melbourne team at Meatmaiden. Hopefully we’ll be able to get our whole distributed team together for the big 1-0 in 2025!
With our team growing, we kicked off 'lunch and learn' sessions in the second half of the year, starting with a series of communication workshops led by Peter Webb (organisational psychologist, leadership coach and author).
We examined our own communication styles as well as each others’, learnt about how to handle tricky conversations and how to build trust.
Always hungry for knowledge, our digital team threw themselves into learning all about Google's Performance Max feature, which you can read more about here.
Who has the world’s best clients? (Hint: It’s us)
This year we welcomed a bunch of new clients onboard across a wide range of different industries – from tech to ecommerce, professional services and more – and continued our great work with some familiar faces.
We were thrilled to commence our working relationship with the good folks at myprosperity, and had heaps of fun designing their event presence for Xerocon as well as their sponsor area at the famous Xerocon Ignition Precon Party (who doesn't love a Lego table!). Check it out here and here. We gave out prizes for the best Lego creations on the night – it was a real hit.
Special mention also goes to Karolina Kuszyk, myprosperity's Head of Wealth Channel, being named FinTech leader of the year at the Women In Finance Awards earlier in November. What a win!
There were lots of big milestones for our friends over at AccountKit this year. They launched their new website in August to coincide with the unveiling of their new workflow tool. We worked with them to develop the site architecture, copy and key visuals, with the wonderful team of Hubspot specialists at Neighbourhood coming on board to design and build the website.
Off the back of this, we had a tonne of fun unveiling AccountKit's Xerocon presence for 2022, tying in with their High Performance Accounting positioning. You can see the creative and read up about it here and here. So good to be back at in-person events finally!
We were also delighted to watch the team at Farmers Pick go from strength to strength this year. As their digital marketing team, we supported them with their successful expansion into NSW and their epic crowdfunding effort in July.
They closed out their offer within 24 hours, and it's not surprising when you see the big growth results they've clocked up this year. We're excited to see what's in store for them in 2023!
Another highlight was teaming up with Adrian Roshan at Coception to develop his beautiful brand identity and new website. Check out the story behind it all here.
Giving back
As a team, we became an active microlender via Kiva this year, lending to entrepreneurs in underserved communities around the world.
We also supported great causes including the Flood Appeal for NSW Solo Parents as well as the Law and Advocacy Centre for Women, among others.
…and lastly, some pearls of wisdom from Shaq
In July our founder Carolyn got to see Shaquille O'Neal in person when he was a special guest at CreativeCubes, our co-working space!
Not only did he nail his own catchy rendition of Land Down Under, but he also came through with some memorable insights:
🤓 On learning from others: "When you're not the smartest guy in the room, you get used to asking questions. You gotta surround yourself with people that are smarter than you.”
☕ On why he didn't invest in Starbucks: "They said, 'Let's put Starbucks in the ‘hood.' And I said, ‘Hey, I'm from the ‘hood. It's not going to work.’"
👂On the art of listening: "I'm not the smartest [on the board of Papa John’s], I just like to listen. And sometimes, they listen to me."
That’s a wrap!
Wishing everyone a wonderful break, and here’s to many more milestones in 2023.
